Project Status

Route 419/Electric Road is one of the busiest corridors in Roanoke County. A recommendation was included in the Roanoke County 200 Plan to continue studying and improving the roadway for all users along the corridor. Improvements are currently underway between Route 220 and Ogden Road, and further enhancements are anticipated between Ogden Road and Starkey Road starting in 2027.

To continue improvements along the 419/Electric Road Corridor, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is now studying Route 419 between Starkey Road and Springwood Park Drive.  The study's focus includes:

  • Improving roadway and pedestrian safety
  • Reducing Congestion
  • Expanding accessibility and connections for bicyclists, pedestrians, and transit riders
  • Providing mobility options for travelers

A June 2025 survey resulted in 1,056 responses.
