  • Please use our new Trash App to find out your upcoming bulk and brush collection dates. If you already know whether you are A or B week, you can see if your collection is this week or next week in the top right of our Trash Collection page.

  • Please place your bulk and brush items to the curb no earlier than the Saturday before and no later than 7:00 am on your scheduled collection day.

  • The most common reasons that items are not collected in front of a residence include:

    • Items not at the curb by 7:00 am on the scheduled collection day
    • Items less than 5 feet from vehicles, mailboxes, cans, electrical boxes, or basketball goals
    • Brush more than 6 feet in length or 12 inches in diameter
    • Items considered uncollectible

  • Residents are permitted to stencil only their house number on the containers. Containers are assigned to individual addresses, not the residents themselves. Therefore, the containers are Roanoke County property and have to remain at the home should the resident move.

  • Roanoke County provides one 96-gallon container to each household we serve. Residents may purchase one additional container for their use. At the current time, we are not selling additional containers from our inventory. However, occasionally, local hardware stores sell containers similar to the ones we use. Residents should be aware that Roanoke County will not repair or replace these purchased containers should they become damaged or lost in the truck.

  • Because the containers are Roanoke County property, homeowners must contact the Roanoke County Police Department at 562-3265 to report it stolen. Residents will receive a case number that is needed to receive a replacement container. Once the case number has been received, please call the Solid Waste Division at 387-6225 and we will schedule the delivery of a replacement. Please make sure that you have the case number when you call.

  • Occasionally, containers may blow away during high winds and/or thunderstorms. Residents are encouraged to look through the neighborhood for a couple of days to see if the container is found by another neighbor. If not, please contact the Solid Waste Division at 387-6225 and we will schedule a replacement container delivery.

  • Unfortunately, containers that are damaged due to negligence or burning cannot be replaced at no charge. Residents can either purchase a container from the Solid Waste Division or a comparable container from local hardware stores.

  • Occasionally, containers lose lids and/or wheels. We have supplies for both lids and wheels to repair the containers. Simply call 387-6225 and we will set up the repair. If our repair driver finds that the container cannot be fixed, he will replace the container. There is no charge for this service.
