Roanoke County Extends Broadband and Cell Phone Connectivity Survey!

DEADLINE TO COMPLETE THE SURVEY IS WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 28.

Approximately 1,500 Roanoke County households have completed the community-wide Broadband and Cell Phone Connectivity and Access Survey, but those who have yet to respond will have two more weeks to participate. Roanoke County has extended the deadline for the survey which will now close February 28 instead of February 14, as originally planned. 

All residents of Roanoke County are strongly encouraged to participate. Results will be used to identify connectivity gaps county-wide and will help build the required business case for additional grants and investment where needed.

“Many portions of Roanoke County are rural and lack reliable connectivity,” said Madeline Hanlon, of Roanoke County Administration. “We encourage residents to complete the survey which will provide timely and accurate data, so we’re better positioned to secure necessary resources to achieve comprehensive connectivity across the County. Your input matters greatly.”

Roanoke County asks one representative from each household to complete the survey from a cell phone, tablet, or computer connected to the home wi-fi network, if available. If home internet is not available, the survey can be completed in any location, from any internet-connected device. The survey can be accessed online at www.roanokecountyva.gov/connected. 

Residents who need additional support completing the survey may request assistance at any of the County’s public libraries.

The survey is now open through February 28, 2024, and results will be published later this year.
