[ARCHIVED] Roanoke County Sand and Sandbag Supply Exhausted

The operation to provide sand and sandbags at the Brambleton Center concluded Wednesday evening and all resources have been exhausted. Roanoke County is no longer providing this service at this time.

More than 5,000 bags and 128 tons of sand were provided to citizens. Citizens were very appreciative of this service offered by the County. The Sheriff's Office and inmates were a tremendous help in bagging the sand and loading it into vehicles. The Police Department managed orderly traffic flow and ensured concerned citizens remained calm while waiting in long lines. Parks & Recreation staff were instrumental in maintaining organization of this event.
