[ARCHIVED] Town of Vinton Updates Water and Trash Collection Info

July 2, 2012 (Vinton, VA) -- As of 3pm, Monday, July 2, the Town of Vinton Public Works Department had restored operations to the pumps servicing the Falling Creek, Wolf Creek, Victoria Meadows, and Chestnut Mountain Subdivisions.

Over the next 2-6 hours, residents will see the water service to their homes restored. We ask all residents to practice strict conservation measures over the next 24 hours as water is completely restored to the water tanks. Please only use water for necessities and do not use water for lawn irrigation, car washing, etc. You may also see water flowing out of fire hydrants as we flush the lines.

A boil notice remains in effect ONLY for those affected areas in Falling Creek, Wolf Creek, Victoria Meadows, and Chestnut Mountain. No other areas of town are affected by this notice. All other areas may continue to use water as normal. This will remain in effect until otherwise notified by the Virginia Department of Health. The Town will be conducting daily testing of the water and submitting it to the Health Department.

The Town will continue to provide potable water and bottled drinking water at the War Memorial, tomorrow, July 3 from 10AM-5PM.

The Cooling Shelter operating at the Vinton Senior Center will close at 9PM tonight, July 2 and will NOT reopen July 3. Anybody that still needs shelter assistance is directed to the Roanoke Civic Center.

Public Works crews will continue throughout the week picking up and chipping trees and other vegetative debris. No service will be provided on July 4, due to the holiday. Wednesday trash will be picked up on Thursday. Bulk pick-up has been delayed until next week and will resume on Monday, July 9th.
