[ARCHIVED] Pedestrian Fatality on Williamson Road

Roanoke County Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred Thursday, April 18 on Williamson Road at Greenway Drive. At approximately 6:14 a.m., two vehicles were driving northbound on Williamson Road when the first vehicle swerved to avoid a pedestrian in the lane of travel. The second vehicle, driven by Oakie M. Overstreet, 43 years old, of Roanoke, Virgina then struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where he died of his injuries.

Though it was raining at the time of the crash, weather does not appear to be a factor in the crash nor does speed.
