[ARCHIVED] Roanoke County Police Serve Up Fun at First-Ever “Pickleball with Police” Event

(May 12, 2025) Roanoke County Police Department is trading badges for paddles as they team up with Performance Pickleball to host the first-ever “Pickleball with Police” event — the public is invited to join the fun!

This unique community event will be held Saturday, May 17, 9 a.m.—1 p.m. on the Garst Mill Park pickleball courts, bringing neighbors, officers and local businesses together. It’s a chance to meet the men and women behind the badge, take a swing at America’s fastest-growing sport, and build connections.

“We’re continually looking for new and creative ways to connect with our community,” said Officer Caleb Forehand, Crime Prevention Coordinator for the department. “Pickleball is the perfect mix of fun, fitness, and friendly competition — and this event is all about building trust with our community.”

Performance Pickleball staff will be on hand to offer free instruction, making this event perfect for all ages and skill levels. They’ll also be promoting an upcoming “Guns and Hoses Pickleball Tournament” — a high-energy match-up between first responders hosted by Performance Pickleball.

This is part of a series of community outreach events the Police Department will be hosting around Roanoke County.
