Roanoke County Extends Broadband and Cell Phone Connectivity Survey!

DEADLINE TO COMPLETE THE SURVEY IS WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 28.

Approximately 1,500 Roanoke County households have completed the community-wide Broadband and Cell Phone Connectivity and Access Survey, but those who have yet to respond will have two more weeks to participate. Roanoke County has extended the deadline for its resident connectivity survey through February 28, 2024, instead of February 14, as originally planned. 

All residents of Roanoke County are strongly encouraged to participate. Results will be used to identify connectivity gaps county-wide and will help build the required business case for additional grants and investment where needed.

“If you have not already, please take this survey to help County Officials ensure that no one in our community is left behind. With more surveys completed, we’ll be better positioned to pursue the remaining resources necessary to ensure complete county-wide connectivity,” Assistant to the County Administrator Madeline Hanlon said. “Having accurate and timely data is critical to this process so we need as many people as possible to participate. However, the survey will not be extended again so, now is your chance.”    

Roanoke County continues to ask one representative from each household to complete the survey from a cell phone, tablet, or computer connected to the home wi-fi network (where available). If home internet is not available, the survey can be completed from any internet-connected device at any location. The Roanoke County Broadband and Cell Service Connectivity survey can be accessed online at www.roanokecountyva.gov/connected.

Residents who need additional support completing the survey may request it at any of the County’s public library facilities. 

The survey is now open through February 28, 2024, and results will be published later this year.
