[ARCHIVED] Roanoke County Responds to Significant Calls during Severe Weather

(ROANOKE COUNTY, VA—October 11, 2018—Roanoke County Fire & Rescue has responded to 19 calls for emergency assistance since noon today. These calls include:

Accidents - 6
Service Calls(assistance getting out of flooding vehicle) - 4
Road Blocked - 2
Wire Down - 1
Medical - 3
Tech Rescue related to flooding - 3

Additionally, there are 21 pending calls that are considered service calls and crews will respond to them as soon as they are able to. Most of the significant calls are occurring in the South County area.

Citizens are asked to only call 9-1-1 for emergency situations.

Please stay posted to VDOT or Roanoke County facebook pages for road closures due to flooding.
