[ARCHIVED] Contractor Appreciation Program Recognizes Parkside Storage Project

Parkside Storage Stormwater Clean Award

(Roanoke County, VA - September 28, 2018) Roanoke County’s Department of Community Development has selected the Parkside Storage project, located at 7544 Plantation Road, as the next recipient of the Stormwater Clean Award.

Property Catalyst Group and Bowman Excavating, Inc. demonstrated care for the local community and environment though their conscientious development of this storage facility. Both firms were proactive throughout construction in maintaining erosion and sediment controls and stormwater management measures that were necessary for a successful project and for protecting downstream waterways from sediment-laden stormwater runoff.

Land development in Roanoke County presents difficult challenges in the management of stormwater runoff due to the very steep slopes and highly erodible soils in the region. Because of these challenges, Roanoke County created the Contractor Appreciation Program to recognize land-disturbing contractors who conduct exemplary work within the County to protect its natural water resources.

Roanoke County inspectors submit candidate projects to a selection committee who meet monthly to evaluate the projects for recognition. Selected projects are recognized with a permanent sign at the project site, as well as recognition in the department’s newsletter and on the County’s website.
