At the top of its agenda, the Board of Supervisors held a signing ceremony to commemorate the agreement with Roanoke County Public Schools that provides record-setting funding of $130 million for school capital projects, which will include building a new Career and Technical Education Center and the renovation of two elementary schools.

The Board of Supervisors also held a public hearing to receive citizen comments on the proposed Fiscal Year 2023-2024 Operating Budget and the proposed Fiscal Year 2024-2033 Capital Improvement Program. A second public hearing and the first reading to adopt the budget and appropriate funds are set for May 9.

The Board of Supervisors hears the first reading of an ordinance to authorize the acquisition of new, variable-width easements for a stream restoration project located on Canter Drive and Titan Trail. The second reading and vote on this action is set for May 9, 2023.

The Board went on the approve the following items on its consent agenda in the form of one resolution:

Work Session

After the meeting, the Board of Supervisors moved to a work session with staff to discuss the development of the new Bonsack Fire Station.
