New Bicycle Lanes on Brambleton Avenue

During a recent repaving project on Brambleton Avenue in Roanoke County, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) reconfigured the pavement striping to include bicycle lanes. On the section of Brambleton Avenue between Electric Road and the Roanoke City limits, VDOT narrowed the width of the existing five lanes in order to make room for bicycle lanes in both directions. The result is over two miles of new bicycle lanes in Roanoke County.

Roanoke City crews recently repaved the City section of Brambleton Avenue, and where feasible, restriped that pavement to include bicycle lanes. The seamless transition between localities allows cyclists, traveling in either direction, to enjoy a safer and more comfortable riding experience.
