Volunteer Training

Volunteer Training Opportunities

Throughout the year, Roanoke County Fire and Rescue Department (RCFRD) offers training classes for beginning and continuous education for active volunteer personnel. Some of these classes may be open to fire/rescue volunteers of surrounding jurisdictions if space is available.

Current Classes Offered

RCFRD Annual Volunteer Fire Academy - 18 week class beginning in August
RCFRD Emergency Vehicle Operators Class (EVOC) - this Saturday-Sunday class is offered several times a year and follows the Virginia Department of Fire Programs curriculum for Class 1, 2 and 3 certifications.
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - All EMT classes are registered through the Western Virginia EMS Council where course announcements are posted.
