Business personal property, machinery and tools are not prorated. However, vehicles utilized in business are prorated.
Roanoke County levies a tax on tangible personal property used in a trade (furniture, fixtures, machinery and tools) located in Roanoke County or Town of Vinton on January 1.
Businesses must itemize personal property and equipment declaring the date of acquisition and original purchase price. You must file a return by February 1 and payment is due May 31. For further information call 540-772-2046.
